The Open Book is a small neighbourhood bookstore with good coffee, comfortable places to read, and plenty of reasons to stay awhile. Browse the shelves. Discover something unexpected. We believe bookstores should be places where people linger.
Our shelves are carefully curated rather than endless, with fiction, nonfiction, poetry, essays, memoirs, mysteries, classics, independent publications, and books you probably wouldn’t find on the bestseller table at a big-box store.
Some you’ll come looking for.
Others you’ll discover by accident.
And if you can’t decide, ask us. We have opinions.

Some combinations simply make sense. Our café serves carefully brewed coffee, espresso, tea, and a rotating selection of pastries and small treats.
Take your drink to one of our reading tables, settle into a chair, and open a book. You don’t have to rush.

The Open Book is also a place to meet people. We host book clubs, author talks, reading nights, writing sessions, workshops, and informal gatherings that bring interesting people into the same room.
Some events have a theme. Some have a speaker. And some are simply an excuse to sit around a table and talk.

Can I read books in the store without buying them?+
Of course. We encourage you to browse and read before deciding whether a book is coming home with you.
Do I have to buy something to sit and read?+
No. You're welcome to read in the bookstore without making a purchase. If you're settling in for the afternoon, though, you're welcome to grab a coffee or treat from the café.
Can I bring my own book?+
Absolutely. The Open Book isn't just for books purchased here.
Can I work from the café?+
Yes. We have tables suitable for working, studying, writing, and reading. During busy periods, we may ask customers to share tables so more people can enjoy the space.
Is Wi-Fi available?+
Yes. Wi-Fi is available throughout the café.
Can I order a book you don't have?+
Yes. Ask us about ordering a title. If we can get it, we'll do our best to bring it in.
Do you host book clubs?+
We do. We host our own discussions and welcome independent book clubs looking for somewhere to meet.
Can I organize an event at The Open Book?+
Possibly. We host small gatherings, workshops, discussions, and community events. Contact us with your idea and we'll see what we can do.
Do you host networking events?+
Yes, but we're not interested in awkward rooms full of name tags and forced introductions. Our networking events are designed around conversation, shared interests, coffee, and books. Come meet people naturally.
Can I come just for coffee?+
Please do. You don't need to buy a book to enjoy the café.
Can I reserve a table?+
Our regular café tables are first come, first served. For larger groups and private events, contact us in advance.
What if I don't know what to read?+
That's what we're here for. Tell us what you've enjoyed, what you're in the mood for, or what you absolutely don't want to read. We'll make you a recommendation.
